FS 2017 Physik II

The focus of this course is the study of electricity, magnetism and electromagnetic waves. Next to an introduction into the relevant formal framework, the course will offer a series of demonstration experiments to illustrate the discussed topics. This course is an essential ingredient to the basic training of students in Physics and builds on the introductory lecture 'Physics I' in mechanics. [more]

HS 2016: Nanophononics: manipulation of sound and heat

Phonons are the physical particles representing mechanical vibrations and are responsible for the transmission of sound and heat. This lecture aims at introducing the fundamentals for understanding phonon physics, theoretical and experimental methods for phonon transport description and engineering. Furthermore, we will study examples of newly developed phononic materials and devices. [more]
